Basset Hound Rescue Quebec

.. As any Charity is always in need of this or that.. We are no exception.. We will always need Your monetary donations for medical exams.. treatments .. sterilization.. Canadian Tire Money for odds and sods for the dogs.. food.. a toy.. a carrier or crates.. We would love a printing service to do our printing projects.. Maybe a reputable kennel to house the overflow during peak periods or if a tragedy  hits.. ie: a puppy mill raid... A groomer for nails and a bath.. A cell phone with free service.. Drivers willing to relay dogs if necessary .. stamps.. office supplies.. print advertising.. A English to French translator.. for the site.

Ultimately our biggest wish is for a facility where the rescues could just chill for a bit till they can prepare for the new page in their life.. .. I hate shuffling these precious dogs from pillar to post.. chances are they began their lives quite normally.. then they became to much trouble or became lost and not searched for.. no tags.. a revenge statement ( one partner dumping the other partners pet ) What ever the circumstances we get these dogs.. they are so loyal and easily dismayed when abandoned.. and bassets can be shuffled before coming to us.. then their lives might settle down a bit but chances are good they need sterilization.. vaccinations.. heart worm testing.. this ofter is done in the first two days of rescue.. ( more trauma ) Then we have them to observe.. then if they get fostered for a while.. yes another shuffle .. and all good things willing they make it to their " Forever Home "  and a facility / basset sanctuary / basset retirement.. all necessary .. Yes I know I'm dreaming.. but they say put it out to the Universe.. for it has abundance..

Food Costs & Gas.. we all know gas prices..

Group socialization and rehabilitation is something that is still fairly unique in the world of dog rescue .. especially basset rescue.. and one of the things that keeps hounds happy and healthy is a good diet.. So often a hound arrives here emaciated having lacked proper nutrition  and often its because of limited or poor food supply..
This basset came in so skinny and weighing so little it was crazy for food..I could put my two hands around his waist.. and his ribs poked through..

Then this basset was labeled as "food aggressive" .. "a medical case".. immune suppressed or a behavioral case.. when all that was  actually needed was correct these issues is a "healthy diet" and love. I try to utilize a food that should be a regular diet for ALL walks of basset.. and specifically for hounds.. living in a pack socialization..  with a blended carb source but minimal ingredients for detoxification  from unknown or lesser quality foods they previously ingested.. The purer ingredients the higher grade of food.. and this food transition increases my monthly food budget - by more than double with treats included. A months supply of food is going to be $400.00 This is not a reduced rate, for a non-profit yet as its a fairly new concept here. I’m working on it though..  Please consider sponsoring the hounds health by contributing monthly to the food budget, or by sponsoring an entire month of Holistic Foods..
